History
Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church traces its roots back to 1903, when Brother and Sister Grieve moved from Kirkcaldy to share their new-found Adventist faith in the Granite City. Through small meetings, faithful literature work, and a series of evangelistic campaigns, the group grew into an organised Company in 1931 and became an established church on Sabbath 27 April 1935. For many years the congregation worshipped in rented halls around Aberdeen until, in November 1958, they opened their own building at 13 Dee Place. In the late 1980s the original church was demolished and a new purpose-built sanctuary was constructed on the same site, officially opened on 22 April 1989 as a visible witness to God’s care and leading. Over the decades a number of dedicated pastors have served the congregation, and today Pastor Weiers Coetser leads a flourishing church family, with around 80 people worshipping together on a typical Sabbath. From Aberdeen, new groups have been planted in Bucksburn and in the Turriff area, while the main church continues to welcome students, support families, and run a lively children’s programme as it serves the wider community in Jesus’ name.

Pastor
Weiers Coetser

Pastor Weiers Coetser has been the pastor of the Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church since 2022. He was born and raised in South Africa and began his pastoral ministry there before moving to the UK. Over the years he has served churches in Northern Ireland and in Devon, England, and now enjoys being part of church life here in Aberdeen. Weiers is married to Simone, and they have a daughter, Jeandré. When he is not working, he enjoys riding his gravel bike, both for commuting around the city and for exploring the countryside.
Pastoral Team Members
Church Elders

Our pastoral team enjoy visiting with church members. In this photo Elders Victor, Koye, Edson, and Shepherd were visiting with Sister Janice. Little did we know how precious this memory would be. A few months later, Elder Koye Edwards (second from the left) passed away unexpectedly. We still miss him. He made a huge impact in our church.

Some of the members of our pastoral team are quite musical. In this photo Elders Victor, Edson and Nhamo are leading a special song of worship.
